With a name that means "to soar" in Chinese, it's not very hard to understand that this young 24-year-old from Shanghai has already achieved so much in his short career. As the current world No. 1 and both Olympic and world record holder, the charismatic Liu Xiang has become a hero and role model for many people his age. He is the first-ever male Chinese athlete to win a gold medal in Olympic track and field history and he will be defending his title at the 2008 Beijing Summer Olympics.
