Xavier Rohart

Hometown: Fos sur mer, France
Born: July 1, 1968
Team: France Sailing
Hobbies: Charity work, pets, home

Nicknamed “Bigfrog”, Xavier Rohart picked up sailing at the very young age of 7. Paired with his former crew Yannick Adde, Xavier went on to become one of the best in the world in the Finn class. He competed in the 1992 Olympic Regatta in Barcelona and the 2000 Olympic Regatta in Sydney and came very close to winning a medal (Xavier finished 7th and 5th in the Finn, respectively).

At the suggestion of French sailing coach and long time friend Daniel Dahon, Xavier paired up with his current crew Pascal Rambeau to sail the Star boat together in 2003. With a new partner and a new boat, Xavier won the 2003 ISAF Sailing World Championship in the Star class in Cadiz, Spain as well as the 2005 Star World in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Xavier “Bigfrog” Rohart obtained his first ever Olympic medal during the 2004 Athens Olympics where his stellar performance was awarded with a bronze medal.

Expect Xavier to be competing for Gold in Qingdao for the Beijing Olympics in 2008.
